This game has a very subtle and calming effect on me. Despite how simple the style it is, there is something very special about its minimalism. It's definitely unique for a game at this scale, which often tends to be crowded with attention-grabbing images and effects. If you want to continue develop this minimalism as your style, it would be very cool. I would say for further development, like you mentioned in the log, adding a few more other interactive object besides just collectable or kickable obstacles, it would be interesting. Some simple music and sound effect would bring a lot too!
Your background and bunny are adorable! The game is simple and easy to navigate. I would recommend animating the enemies (i.e. the shark and coconuts) to make the game have a sense of peril.
Love the bunny! Also the entire visual makes it look like the setting is in the outer space (floating fruits with dark background), which creates a very unique aesthetic for me, the cute items juxtaposed to the deep infinite space which can be scary). I'd be interested to see how this would look once there's more animation. Could change the still, quite look that I'm getting right now, which I think works well for outer space feel, but would be fun to test out!
The overall style of the game is adorable. I love the fact that there are different interactions between the bunny and fruits, some fruits bounce away, and some fruits just kill the character. I wish the instruction can be written on the title page because people might confuse the gameplay if they don't read the description first.
Yes I also agree. It's a simple game so I think having short intro on the title page would be nice. Because I just went straight into the game and assumed the bunny will want to eat all the fruits (didn't notice the color differences in banana initially), so ended up dying right away lol
I like the free play experience of this game! You didn't create a maze for this game, and that allows me to play it in different ways. I spend a few minutes at the second level because I try to hit the shark using one of the coconuts. I died once because I touch the shark, and I just want to know what if the coconut hits it. I enjoy this process of exploring. I think the abstract background and the open space make me concentrate more on the interaction between the bunny and other elements. I agree with you. I think adding more interactions is a good idea. Now the coconut goes through the shark. I kind of want to see it hits the shark and the shark runs away.
Your bunny is so adorable! I love how you described your process and future development ideas. I think the right thing you mentioned about obstacles and treats (even though I forget about round coconuts all the time) is to make them either change their coordinates or place them near the object player needs to collect. Some sound and little animations will make your game even more fun!
